Terms of use

Fomik is made and run by an independent developer based in Romania, reachable at hello@fomik.ro. Using the app means accepting what is below. If something here does not suit you, the remedy is to stop using it — there is nothing to cancel and no one to notify.

What Fomik does with data is a separate document, and the one that matters more: the privacy policy.

It is a notebook for developing a recipe — every attempt kept as its own version, so you can see what changed between them. That is the whole claim.

It is not an authority on food safety, nutrition, allergens or health. Times, temperatures, quantities and notes are what you typed, kept and shown back to you; the app does not check them and cannot. Cooking judgement stays yours. Where the app eventually estimates something — nutrition, for one — it will say the word estimate, and it will mean it.

You keep every right to what you write in Fomik. No licence is granted to us, none is implied, and none is taken by using the app.

This is not a promise we are asking you to take on trust. Your recipes are in your device's storage and in your own iCloud; they have never been sent to a server of ours, and the server we do run has no database to hold one. We could not read your recipes if we decided to. The privacy policy sets out the mechanics.

Fomik lets you paste a recipe in, or share one to it from elsewhere. What you do with someone else's recipe is on you: bringing it into your own notebook for your own cooking is ordinary, and republishing or selling someone else's work is not, whichever app it passed through on the way.

Do not put anything into Fomik that is unlawful to hold.

An account is optional and the app works without one. If you want it, it is Sign in with Apple and nothing else — no password of ours to forget.

Keep it to one account per person, and look after the Apple ID behind it; anyone who can sign in as you can act as you. You need to be at least 16 to create one, and Fomik is not directed at children.

You can delete it at any time, from inside the app, in Settings → Delete account. It is immediate and permanent. Your recipes survive it untouched, because they were never part of it.

Fomik runs a small server so that signing in and deleting an account work. Do not attack it, hammer it, script against it, or try to reach an account that is not yours. If you do, access can be cut off without notice.

Nobody has a right to have it running. It is one machine, maintained by one person, and it will occasionally be down.

Nothing. Fomik is free, there is nothing to buy inside it, no subscription, and no advertising.

A paid tier is planned, and it will not change any of the above retroactively: what you have already written stays readable, and this page is rewritten — with the price, the billing period and how renewal works — before anything can be bought. If a purchase ever exists, it goes through Apple, which means Apple takes the payment and Apple handles refunds under their own terms.

The app is provided as it is. It is early software written by one person, and it may have bugs, may lose a version of itself to an update, and is not guaranteed to be available or correct.

So: the app can export your whole library to a file, and if there is work in there you cannot afford to lose, use it. That is the honest mitigation, offered instead of a promise nobody in this position can keep.

To the extent the law allows, Fomik is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from using it — including lost data, a dish that did not work, or time spent.

Your mandatory rights as a consumer under Romanian and EU law are not affected by anything on this page, and nothing here tries to exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

You end this by deleting the app, and the account with it if you made one. We may suspend access for the fair-use clause above, or stop offering the app entirely — in which case the recipes in your iCloud are still yours, and the export file is still a file you can read.

Romanian law, and the courts of Romania. If you are a consumer elsewhere in the EU, this does not deprive you of the protections of your own country's law, and you can bring a complaint there.

These terms change when the app does, and the date at the top changes with them. Anything that affects what you pay or what you keep is written here before the build that does it ships — the same commitment the privacy policy makes about data.
